In this role, you’ll be able to oversee exciting flag football games, ensure fair play, and help young athletes develop their skills and sportsmanship.
Application, Training, & Responsibilities for Youth League Referees
To be considered for the position of youth league referee, you must be at least 16 years of age. Refereeing for Pen Del Flag Football is a paid position, offering $20.00 per game. Interested individuals are required to apply. Our selection process includes an interview to ensure you have the proper job knowledge, skills, and attitude. On being selected, you’ll undergo training with a senior referee before being approved by the head referee, Joseph Peiffer. This training is crucial to ensure you’re well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of being a youth league referee in flag football. Referees must also attend a meeting scheduled before our scrimmage game.
Game Schedule and Commitment
Our games are held on Sundays from April through June, starting around 10:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm. Each game begins on the hour and consists of two 20 to 25-minute halves with a five-minute half-time. Overtime play may be necessary if the score is tied at the end of the game. The time commitment for flag football is approximately two hours a week: one hour for practice before the game and a game of two 25-minute halves. The games are held at Crossan Park in Landenberg, Pennsylvania. This beautiful location provides the perfect backdrop for exciting football games and thrilling competitions.
